Port Elliot

A handsome seaside village of limestone buildings, sheltered coves and the dramatic Horseshoe Bay - a favourite stop on the Encounter Bikeway.

Port Elliot sits on the rugged Encounter Coast between Victor Harbor and Goolwa. Its main attraction is Horseshoe Bay, a near-perfect sandy cove framed by sandstone cliffs - one of the safest swimming beaches in the area.

Heritage charm

Founded in the 1850s as a port for river trade before the railway arrived, Port Elliot retains its 19th-century character. The main street is lined with heritage pubs, boutiques, ice-creameries and bakeries, including the nationally famous Flying Fish Café.
