South Australia's largest and longest-running surf school, based in the main street of Middleton - daily 2-hour group lessons, surfboard, SUP and wetsuit hire, and trailer-based hire on the beach.
The Fleurieu surf school
Surf & Sun has been teaching people to stand up at Middleton since 2001. The shop is on the main street next to the bakery and across from the Middleton Tavern, and the school runs 2-hour group lessons at one of South Australia's most popular surf beaches almost every day. Most beginners are standing by the end of their first lesson - the instructors are all accredited with Surfing Australia and several are state champions.
What you can hire
From the shop you can hire surfboards (foam learner boards through to fibreglass shortboards), SUPs (learner and surf SUPs), wetsuits, body boards, snorkel gear and bikes. By the hour, half day or full day. SUP boards are only available from the shop, not the beach trailers.
Beach trailers
In peak season the school runs hire trailers on the sand at Middleton and Moana, so you can grab a board without leaving the beach. Call the shop in summer to confirm trailer locations before you head out.
