Basham Beach
A quiet, family-friendly stretch of sand just east of Middleton, part of the Basham Beach Regional Park, with a clifftop walking trail and good rock pools.
A quieter Middleton option
Basham Beach sits just east of the main middleton-beach-surf" class="text-secondary hover:underline underline-offset-4">Middleton beach, inside the Basham Beach Regional Park. It's quieter than Middleton, with a wide foreshore reserve, picnic tables, and a carpark that rarely fills up even on the busiest summer weekends.
Rock pools and walking
At low tide the rock platforms at the eastern end of the beach become a network of rock pools full of crabs, anemones and the occasional octopus. The clifftop walking trail runs east from the carpark all the way to Goolwa Beach, with views along the coast to the Murray Mouth.
The Encounter Bikeway
Basham is a stop on the Encounter Bikeway, the sealed path that runs from Victor Harbor to Goolwa. Cyclists and walkers can pull off the path for a break on the foreshore lawn.
