Historic ironstone winery purchased by Thomas Hardy in 1876, now the McLaren Vale cellar door of the Hardys wine company and a registered heritage site.
Thomas Hardy's McLaren Vale
The Tintara winery was built by Dr Alexander Kelly in 1862 and purchased by Thomas Hardy in 1876, who transformed it into the cornerstone of what would become one of Australia's largest wine companies. The original ironstone buildings are state-heritage listed and still in use today.
Visiting Tintara
The cellar door on Main Road, McLaren Vale, offers tastings from across the Hardys range, from everyday wines to the flagship Thomas Hardy Cabernet and Eileen Hardy Shiraz. Guided experiences take visitors into the original 1876 winery building.
