A coastal reserve south-west of Victor Harbor protecting Waitpinga Beach, Parsons Beach and the spectacular cliffs of the Wild South Coast Way - the Heysen Trail's most dramatic Fleurieu section.

Wild coast and clifftops

Newland Head Conservation Park covers the south-west corner of the Fleurieu Peninsula between Victor Harbor and the Inman Valley, protecting some of the most dramatic coastal scenery on the south coast - 70-metre sandstone cliffs, two long surf beaches (Waitpinga and Parsons), and the headland that gives the park its name.

The Wild South Coast Way

The Heysen Trail's signature Fleurieu section runs through this park - the 23km Waitpinga Cliffs to Kings Beach hike along the clifftops is widely considered one of the most spectacular coastal walks in southern Australia. You can walk the full route in a day or in shorter sections from the Waitpinga or Parsons Beach carparks.

What else is here

The park is also a serious surfing destination (Waitpinga and Parsons are both wild, experienced-only surf beaches), a winter whale-watching spot, and home to a rich bird community including sea eagles and peregrine falcons.
