Finniss Conservation Park

A walk-in-only bushland reserve north-east of Mount Compass, on the Heysen Trail - one of the quieter walking destinations on the central Fleurieu.

A walk-in reserve

Finniss Conservation Park sits north-east of Mount Compass and is unusual for a Fleurieu reserve in being walk-in only - there is no vehicle access into the reserve itself, so walkers approach via the Heysen Trail or the surrounding road network. The park protects remnant high-rainfall woodland and grassy understorey.

What you'll find

Kangaroos, echidnas, possums and a long bird list. The Heysen Trail runs across the park, so walkers either pass through as part of a longer trail walk or use it as a short out-and-back from one of the trail access points on the surrounding roads.

Practical

Free entry, no facilities. Bring water and a hat in summer.
