Vigna Bottin Cellar Door & Osteria

A slice of Italy on Main Road, Willunga

A Calabrian family cellar door and osteria on the main road into Willunga, specialising in Italian varietals and traditional homestyle cooking.

Three generations of Italian farming

Vigna Bottin is run by the Bottin family, who have been growing grapes in the McLaren Vale region for three generations. The current cellar door and osteria, at 192 Main Road in Willunga, brings the family's Calabrian heritage together with estate-grown wines in a renovated Italian-style shed with a Tuscan garden and a view over the vines.

The wines

Vigna Bottin specialises in Italian varietals that sit naturally alongside the food. The list includes Versecco and Prosecco-style sparkling, Fiano, Vermentino, Rosato, Sangiovese, Nero d'Avola, Barbera and Montepulciano, as well as more familiar McLaren Vale shiraz. Seated wine flights let you work through a choice from the Casa and Cantina ranges alongside a tasting plate.

The osteria

Chef Angelo Sambiase's menu is unapologetically regional Italian: meatballs from Nonna Teresa's secret recipe, cotoletta, orecchiette Calabrese, handmade pasta and seafood. The flow is classic - start in the tasting room for a wine flight, then move out to the vineyard terrace or Tuscan garden for lunch.
