Alma Hotel

Willunga's 1856 corner pub, still pouring

Built in 1856 on the corner of Hill and Aldinga Road, the Alma is the unpretentious locals' pub of historic Willunga - hearty meals, cold beer and a cheerful front verandah ideal for a post-market pint.

A genuine country hotel

The Alma Hotel has been trading on the same Willunga corner since 1856, making it one of the oldest continuously licensed pubs in South Australia. The two-storey bluestone and slate building has been lovingly maintained, with the original bar, dining room and sunny front verandah all still very much in use.

What visitors do

Drop in for a schooner of a local draught, settle in for a proper pub lunch of schnitzels, parmis, burgers or a daily chalkboard special, or order a coffee and a slice of cake out on the verandah. It is a favourite spot to finish a Saturday at the farmers market just around the corner. The pub also runs live music nights, a bottle shop and a small gaming room.

Practical notes

Find the Alma on the corner of Hill Street and Aldinga Road at the eastern end of town. It's open daily from late morning through to late; kitchen hours are more limited so phone ahead if dining later. Dog friendly in the outdoor area, with easy street parking and wheelchair access to the bar.
