Strathalbyn Antique Precinct
Six-plus antique and collectables shops along Strathalbyn's heritage High Street - the reason the town is widely called South Australia's antique capital.
A whole street of antiques
Strathalbyn's High Street is the heart of South Australia's antique and collectables trade outside metropolitan Adelaide. Six or more dedicated antique shops sit within a single block of the heritage main street - each with its own specialty, from Victorian furniture and china to vintage farm tools, books, militaria and 20th-century industrial.
Why it's worth a half day
The shops complement each other rather than compete - hunting for a specific piece often means walking from one to the next over the course of an afternoon. The third Sunday of every month adds the Strathalbyn Sunday Market on the Lions Park lawns nearby, which adds another layer of vintage stalls.
Pair with
Lunch at the Robin Hood, the Victoria or the Terminus on the same street, and a wander down to the Soldiers Memorial Gardens by the river.
