A small-batch microbrewery in the historic Goolwa Wharf goods shed, sharing a building with The Fleurieu Distillery and pouring four preservative-free hand-crafted beers.

In the goods shed at the wharf

The Steam Exchange brews inside the original Goolwa Wharf goods shed - a stone-and-corrugated-iron building dating to the railway era, just steps from the PS Oscar W and the Cockle Train platform. The brewery shares the space with The Fleurieu Distillery, so a single visit gets you whisky, gin and beer under one roof.

The beers

The house range is four hand-crafted, preservative-free ales: a pale ale, a steam ale, a porter and a seasonal release. The cellar door pours tasting paddles, schooners and growler fills, and you can take cans away.

What to expect

This is a working brewery with a relaxed tasting bar - not a full kitchen. Bring snacks or pair the visit with one of the cafes along the wharf. The wharf precinct itself, with the paddle steamer, the railway station and the river, makes a half-day out.
