Snorkelling at Second Valley

Second Valley is best known as a beach and a cliff-jumping spot, but it is also one of the more rewarding snorkel sites on the Fleurieu - a sheltered cove with rocky outcrops, kelp beds, caves and Lassiters Reef sitting about 300 metres offshore.

What you might see

Leafy seadragons (well camouflaged but present), reef fish, scalyfin, blue groper, magpie morwong, stingrays, the occasional fur seal hauled out on the rocks, and on a calm day you can swim out to Lassiters Reef where the seadragon population is highest.

When to come

Best in calm weather with light winds and clear water. There can be a current around the headland - check the conditions before you go in. Free shore access from the Second Valley carpark.
