Off the Slate Gallery & Willunga Glass Studio

An 18-artist cooperative gallery sharing space with Willunga Glass Studio on Willunga's High Street, with paintings, sculpture, slumped glass, jewellery and woodcraft.

A working glass studio + 18-artist cooperative

Off the Slate has been part of the Willunga arts scene since 2005, sharing premises with the Willunga Glass Studio (which has been running on the same High Street site since 1995). The gallery is owned by glass artist Glenn Howlett and runs as an artist co-operative of around 18 makers, all from the Fleurieu and surrounds.

What's on display

No curator, no central theme - each artist puts up their own work and the result is an eclectic mix of paintings, sculpture, pottery, slumped glass, jewellery, lamps, woodcraft, photo art and digital art. There is a regular changeover of three-dimensional work through the year, and three to six bigger feature exhibitions annually.

Volunteer-staffed

The gallery is run on a volunteer roster of artists, so the person on duty is almost always one of the makers - a good chance to ask about technique, materials and the local arts scene.
