Lunch-only restaurant in a restored 1880s currant drying shed at McLaren Flat, run by Hamish Maguire and Emily Dowie since 2011.
A working piece of Fleurieu history
The Currant Shed was built in the 1880s as a drying shed for the currant vines that once blanketed McLaren Flat. Restored in 2011 by Hamish Maguire and Emily Dowie, it is now one of the Vale's most atmospheric lunch spots.
The food
The kitchen produces a tightly edited seasonal menu driven by Fleurieu producers, with strong local wine pairings. Open six days a week (closed Wednesdays) for lunch. Bookings are recommended.
