Run by the artists
The Strand Gallery is a co-operative space run by a group of local Port Elliot and Encounter Bay artists, set in a heritage shopfront on The Strand a few doors down from the bakeries and the foreshore. The gallery is staffed on a roster system - whoever is on duty on the day is usually one of the exhibiting artists, so the conversation about the work tends to be unusually direct.
What's on show
The space rotates a mix of established names and emerging artists, with a focus on coastal and landscape painting, ceramics and small-format works that suit the space. Most pieces are for sale.
Walk to it
A short walk from Horseshoe Bay, Freeman Lookout and the Cockle Train station, so easily folded into a Port Elliot afternoon.
