Inkwell Wines

Shipping-container cellar door & Hotel California Road

Architecturally striking cellar door and boutique hotel built from recycled shipping containers in the vineyards at Tatachilla.

Sustainable winemaking with a reggae soul

Inkwell Wines was founded by Dudley Brown and Irina Santiago-Brown, who planted their vineyard on California Road at Tatachilla in 2003. Dudley is well known in McLaren Vale for his biodynamic and regenerative farming approach and for his passion for Rhone varietals and dub music - the wines carry playful names like Dub Style Shiraz, Spirit Animal and Wild West.

Cellar door and Hotel California Road

The Inkwell cellar door is an architectural highlight of McLaren Vale, built from recycled shipping containers with indoor tasting spaces, three outdoor decks and a rooftop platform overlooking the vines. On the same site is Hotel California Road, a luxury three-suite accommodation also built from repurposed containers.
