Yankalilla

One of colonial SA's five major towns

Historic agricultural town on the western Fleurieu, once one of the five major towns of colonial South Australia and still the service centre for the surrounding farming district.

A colonial centre

Yankalilla is a historic agricultural town on the Fleurieu Peninsula, 72km south of Adelaide. During the colonial era of the mid-1800s it was considered one of the five major towns of South Australia, thanks to its position at the heart of a rich farming district and on the main road south to the Kangaroo Island ferry.

What to see and do

  • Yankalilla Museum - small local history museum in the main street
  • Drive to Second Valley and Cape Jervis - the main road south from Yankalilla is one of South Australia's great coastal drives
