Samuel's Gorge

1853 barn with views over the gorge

Boutique winery by Justin McNamee in an 1853 stone barn overlooking the Onkaparinga Gorge, specialising in Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz.

Old-world winemaking

Samuel's Gorge is the small-batch winery of Justin McNamee, established in 2003 in an 1853 stone barn overlooking the rugged Onkaparinga Gorge and River on the eastern edge of McLaren Vale. The winery specialises in three Rhone varietals: Grenache, Mataro (Mourvedre) and Shiraz, made with minimal intervention.

Cellar door experience

The cellar door sits inside the 1853 barn and opens onto a deck overlooking the gorge - one of the most atmospheric and photogenic tastings in the Vale. Small, intimate and hosted personally by the winemaker or staff, it is a favourite for wine-nerds and those seeking a genuine artisanal experience.
